It’s ironic, that growing up in a “Christian home” has probably made me more of a skeptic, than more “faithful”. But the ability to question makes us human afterall. Which is why I am super, super excited for this.
This should be really interesting.

The first “Christmas” must have actually really sucked.

Pretty mind blowing concept that an awesome epic God would come to humanity, not with fanfare, but humbly…born in a stinky barn, sleeping in a dirty animal trough, in a scary political time, making Joseph and Mary flee their town by foot or donkey, at full-term pregnancy, by a mother that was likely looked down upon at the impression of her being a slut, as she became prego without her husband.

Who would make up a story like that if they wanted people to believe this guy was the Messiah the Jewish people were waiting for?

Well there’s an untypical angle of Christmas for ya :p

Happy burfday Jesus.

TWO MORE SEASONS FOR DEXTER!!

showtimeallaccess:

We are so excited to announce that DEXTER has been renewed for two more seasons!

Michael C. Hall told us that “On behalf of the entire DEXTER family, we relish the invitation to delve ever deeper into Dexter’s world.”

Production will begin on season seven in 2012 in Los Angeles and seasons seven and eight will consist of 12 episodes each. We can’t wait to watch the story of Dexter Morgan play out!

A heart in metal.

My hearing is recovering from a night of loud screaming and crazy moshy people.

Saw my first big metal show tonight! The Devil Wears Prada headlined w/ 3-4 other bands. They’re one of the few metal bands that I can actually stand, so far.  Beyond the death growls, the actual music is pretty awesome. Great stuff, no doubt.

They also happen to be Christian.

Before anyone might assume it’s all just like “HALLELUJAH” screaming, know that their lyrics are all pretty friggen normal and just…real. They sing about life, struggles, and have a whole EP dedicated to zombies. ZOMBIES (I guess that’s not real).

Aside from the zombie stuff, they sing about what any other musicians would, sans sex and drugs, hah. The difference I’ve noticed: much of the struggles/problem topics in their lyrics also have some form of hope and resolution to it. Relieving, rather than depressing.

Apparently, at every show, DWP’s front man Mike Hranica makes a point to say that what they do and what their music is driven/inspired by is a “whole-hearted belief in Jesus Christ”. I heard and saw flinches and sighs all over when those words came through the mic.

He doesn’t get into it much or anything weird. He doesn’t start preaching or “shoving religion down anyone’s throat”. He brings up the heart behind the great music they make, in no more than 3 sentences.

Passion of some sort or another almost always drives music…love, ambition, sex, sadness…whatever. In these guys’ cases, it’s hope in a belief that there’s more to life than what a messed-up world with messed-up people has to offer.

It’s a positive, life-changing belief. What’s so bad about that? What is it about Jesus that makes people cringe?

bwahahahaha.

bwahahahaha.
